kseelbo
Hi all, When I try to install a kext in Leopard, it tells me I don't have permission. I have tried kexthelper and it tells me it failed to login as root. I tried the manual install with terminal and I get the same result. What do I have to do to get this working? Thanks. littledragon
Same issue here, I'm trying to setup my broadcom 5700 nic and it keeps telling me permission denied...
onradar
Right click on the folder and manually change the permission to allow everyone to read and write to the directory. Then change it back once you're done.

codermonkey
when creating your account when booting the mac for the first time did you give yourself a password I think this issue is where you did not set a password, if so, change your pass to something and try again
datech50
In Leopard you must have a password set or you cannot log in as root. No blank passwords.
hecker
Maybe you guys could try executing some other commends as root. Like: sudo su hecker
kseelbo
Thanks for the replies. I have set a password for the root account, but none as my account. I'll give that a try. I also have tried to the sudo su, but it basically tells me to go to hell. Other than this problem, Leo is working great.

Good luck with your problem.
