Hitesh Posted January 15, 2006 Share Posted January 15, 2006 im trying to install 10.4.1 darwin x86 from a dvd and when the installation starts with the blue screen and everthing ,,but i cannot press continue at the screen where i have to select a drive for the installation ....because there are no options in the box it is empty !! i wanna install it on a new hard disk ..please give the the exact guide to follow . Hitesh Posted January 15, 2006 Author Share Posted January 15, 2006 i used tranmac to create a mac partition in my second hard disk(20 gb) .. and sucessfully created a HFS partition .. now when im installing the MAC OSX i have that hard disk in the box but its 18.9 gb and theres a message that it only need 5.9 gb to install .and that it cannot install on this partition. what do i use now ? Hitesh Posted January 15, 2006 Author Share Posted January 15, 2006 heres what i have now :- 1) i start installing with the dvd and the blue screen appears . 2) i get the screen :SELECT THE DRIVE BUT I GET A RED ! NEXT TO IT " so i cant install it ,,then i go to the disk utility and then erase the disk . 3) i go to the "SELECT THE DRIVE AND THEN GET A GREEN ARROW BESIDES THE HARD DISK(18.6 GB) AND START INSTALLING ON IT 4)these are the messages then:- a) INSTALLING MAC OS PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION C) INSTALLING BASE SYSTEM PART 1 D) WRITING FILES E) INSTALLING ESSENTIALS F) CONFIGURING INSTALLATION g) WRITING FILES H) THEN this appears "THERE ARE ERRORS INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE , PLEASE TRY INSTALLING AGAIN." WHAT AM I DOIN WRONG ? are there any patches to use before installation or can i not use a 20 gb hard disk partition ? i havent installed any drivers or anything . my current system is : P 4 SOCKET 478 1.8 intel mother board i845 pioneer dvd rom .. zoner88 Posted January 19, 2006 Share Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) At that screen, click Tools, Disk Utility, select the drive and click Erase. Leave it at Mac Journalized (Extended) or whatever it is. When done, close Disk Util and you should have your drive ready for installation. If this was said before, sorry.
