Watercool
I installed 10.4.3.8f1111 (with Jas's SSE3 and SSE3 emulation patch) on my Dell GX 400. P4 1.7G (PAE, SSE2) intel 855 chipset Rambus 512 M integrated 3COM ethnet card and AC97 card Installation was successful, but sometimes the 4 language grey screen saying "restart computer" appeared. It also happened when I was working in the GUI. (3COM and AC97 worked properly) My problems are: 1. Why this info appears? Is it due to incompatible with some kind of hardware? 2. There is no 8 second count down message when I start the computer. I remembered that the 10.4.1 version had this and when I pressed F8 I could selected between OS systems as well as specify boot parameters. How can I fix the problem? 3. This is the biggest problem. I have a WinXP in C: and have the chain0 file added to boot.ini, it works for 10.4.1. But this time since I cannot boot from WinXP after the new installation, I changed startup disk in OSX to WinXP. The phenomenon is that chain0 directed again to the system selection screen. That means that now I can only boot to WinXP. I am waiting for your suggestions and thanks in advance. Watercool
mac osx86 doesn't seem to play nicely with dell Yea, it seems! Last time I installed 10.4.1, it worked good, but I could not solve the AC97 input/output problem. Also I could not input my native language, so I tried 8f1099 but could not install it due to kernel panic. This time I tried 8f1111, solved some problems but new problems appear. I am getting mad. sigxcpu
Watercool: read the forums. In order not to look like a fool to a grey screen, use "-v" to boot and you will have more information both at startup and shutdown or crash Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6732-10438f1111-problems/#findComment-41577 Share on other sites
amilmac
Hello! I have installed Mac OS X 10.4.3, 8f1111 version, natively, and patched with last JaS 4.2 patch (directly in iso). Really works very very fine, unless a problem with iTunes, i can´t start it. I get error 50. Safari (flash plugin too), quicktime, firefox, aperture, macromedia and microsoft office products...works really fine and fast, only problem is iTunes. Also Roxio Toast 7 works well and fast, in older 10.4.1, it sais that my machine isn´t a powerpc. Congratulations to all, to make possible an excelent and "very stable" PC version of this great operating system. --- AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (only SSE2). Motherboard: Gibagyte K8NS, nforce 2 (fully working), ALC850 sound (working too with device id modified). sonyed
Hi to all, I'm afraid for my forst post. I'm reading this great forum since one month ago. I've done many tries with OSX86 installation. The better for me was 10.4.3 8f1111 JaS, but unfortunately after Itunes update I've got the grey screen with the shutdown message. Could I solve this problem without re-install? thanx in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6732-10438f1111-problems/#findComment-110558 Share on other sites
