mbida45
After reading a lot of all the fantastic threads in this forum, I've custum build a super computer to run final cut pro and logic pro. My setup: Intel D975XBX2 CPU 775 CORE2 QUAD Q6600 2.4 GHz FSB1066 2x4MB NVIDIA GeForce 7300 G HD SATA 74 GB WESTERN DIGITAL RAPTOR 16MB 10.000R HD Western Digital WD RE WD5000ABYS 500 GB500 GB H Ram 4 GB PC2-6400 CORSAIR C4 XMS2 800 MHz OSX 10.4.9 Uphuck 1.4i r3 Everything works perfect. Final cut runs smooth, logic pro 7 with key and logic pro 8 runs perfect. My only problem is with my iLok key for my waves plugins. My sweet dream of an intel mac tells me it can't detect any iLok key when I try to authorize my Waves 5.9 Enabler for Intel-based Mac. Other USB devices work fine. This means I can’t run the nice and expensive plugins that I'm very dependent on in my music production. I Installed the Latest Interlok Extension. I went to iLok.com and downloaded there driver software. Still no iLok key detection. My iLok works fine with my G5 PPC. Any suggestions?
limini
Works fine here on a powered hub. Does it work on your PC? Check to see if something else on that same port works (like a usb storage device); sometimes not all ports work. If that's not it, review your installation procedure, and uninstall and reinstall if necessary. Waves have good telephone support, but they might not want to deal with iHacks. Anyway, just letting you know that it does work.
dj_stick
my iLok is working fine - does it show up in the "About this mac" - "More" listings? (i've completely forgotten what it's called)

Maybe I need a nother OSX version or something When you say reinstall, do you mean my OSX?
mbida45
my iLok is working fine - does it show up in the "About this mac" - "More" listings? (i've completely forgotten what it's called) I just checked "about this mac". My iLok is listed there! Very wierd, uhhh I just wrote an email to waves. Hope they no someting about it. Maybe i need to add that I instaled the waves plug-ins and autherised my iLok originaly on my G5 PPC.

dj_stick
do you have any other software that requires an iLok based authorisation to check? if not try downloading a demo + license from another company, such as Serato (Pitch 'n' Time LE works with Logic 7+) just to make sure if it's not a problem with the waves plugins themselves You mentioned the plugins work fine on your PPC mac, but have you downloaded a Universal Binary update to allow them to work on intel based machines? mbida45
Thanx for you guys replies. I solved my problem by autherising my iLok on another computer. Actually I wrote Waves, and they advised me to work around the problem like that. I gues it's an Intel Mac thing. They didn't seem to supprised. I didn't mention the ihack thing So now my hack reads the iLok and Logic Pro 8 runs smooth. I'm glad I found the Autosave program on the net though. I get alot of crashes... 12inch
OK I think Im having the same problems on virtually the exact same machine as the OP. Intel Bad Axe 2 Intel Q6600 GeForce 7300 GS 4 x Corsair 1GB DDR2 800 2 x WD 320GB HD Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.2 My iLok is not playing nice it seems wih Pro Tools. I have 4 seperate iLok authorized plug-in bundles. Musician Prod Toolkit, D-Fi, SoundToys FilterFreak/Tremolator & Waves Musician's 2 Bundle. What's happeing is that once the plug-ins are installed and I boot into Pro Tools, it keeps asking me to authorize the plugs during boot up. This is not supposed to happen. It also asks me to authorize them whenever I open a plug-in in one of my sessions. This happens EVERY time I launch/use Pro Tools. The worst thing is, it goes thru all this junk with the Waves plugs aswell, but they dont even show up in my sessions. So they cant even be used!! So this is all after a fresh install and nothing else installed on the system. Just Pro Tools and these plugs. Installed newest iLok extensions etc etc. BTW, if I take the iLok onto my MacBook, it works fine with the exact same plugins installed. Thats running 10.4.9 too. Also, I installed Musician Prod Toolkit on the Windows XP partition on this new machine, and no issue there either. So something is happening with this Hackintosh software wise. One other thing, I cant synchronise my iLok to my iLok account online via my MacBook. This led me to believe that the iLok may be damaged, but then again, its not old, has never been dropped and it works fine on the MacBook and PC. So im doubtful thats it.... but thought I would mention anyway. So..... after all that, anyon got any ideas? This machine was built SPECIFICALLY for audio and Pro Tools. So as you can imagine, I need to resolve this issue. Many thanx in advance.

ManFrday
I am having ILOK issues as well with 10.6.. Every time I launch ProTools I have to tell it to authorize my ProTools 8 MP and Music Production toolkit options. Then when I launch certain plugins (waves, some of the AIR plugs or when PT looks for the transfuser content authorization) it can't seem to talk to the ilok. I can see the iloks in the "about this mac" page.. Not sure what the deal is. I am using a GA EP45-ud3p, Nvidia 9800, blah blah blah.. I used the lifehacker method of installing. any ideas? Thanks! Tripe
Same here. No suggestions? It's not a huge deal as my plugins work ( I dont have waves) ... more of an irritation. Is this just with ilok? Anybody here with syncrosoft having the same issue?
mrakozer
Hi. I found a solution! Instead iAtkos v7 i installed iDeneb_v1.6_1058_Lite_Edition (10.5.8) with Vanilla 9.8.0 Kernel and IOUSBFamilyFix. My protools HD 8.01, iLok, waves, everything works perfectly!!! vandall
strange iLok problem here too.. Antares Avox Evo suite refuses to authorise. Other ilok protected plugins work fine, although I first must 'initiate' the ilok by loging into the ilok site. Have tried various different USB ports, depnding on what port it is situated on the ilok doesnt always appear in the system profiler. Have contacted Antares tech support, and they want to provide remote assistance. I'm guessing they will want to perform updates etc.. at which point I will have to disclose its a hackintosh and stop them trying to update. No doubt voiding any chance of a refund. The plugins authorise fine on other windows machines , I have nearly finished building a friend a hackintosh system so will test it on that. See my signature for system details. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I will install iDeneb_v1.6_1058_Lite_Edition (10.5.8) (as prooved succesfull for earlier poster) on my friends hackintosh build and report back on iLok behaviour. (and if it works I'm swapping his system for mine as he won't need iLok, tuff tittys lol) It's times like this when one really wishes he could afford a real Mac Pro
audio geek
I had a problem and it seems that it wrote something to a drive and I messed with that file somehow. try to unmount your various partitions. I found that when I unmounted one partition PT found iLok. Then I erased that partition.
maddizzar
Hi, this problem is related to the network card. Install a pci network card with realtek chipset. Works like a charm.
Kaz Muzik
I have had the same iLok problem with: GA-EP45-UD3P, Q6600, 9800GT, .. Digi 002R Mac OS X 10.6.3v1.1 Pro Tools LE 8.0.3cs2 Music Production Toolkit 2, Waves V7r9, etc. (the above are the latest versions, but the older versions had the same issue.) However, I added the second disk a few days ago, and installed almost the same software, then it has no problem when booting the second disk, though it has still problem when booting the first disk. Reinstalling Pro Tools or plugins does not help for the first disk. Also, I have another similar system with GA-EP45-UD3R, and it is OK, too. I used to doubt USB related kext(s) or some authentication file(s) corrupted, and tried several things, but I could not figure out what exactly caused such problem.
