~pcwiz
Thats not really an error. Do you get this after installation or before install when you are booting the disc? If you are getting the error when booting up after installation try installing the USB driver on the install disc. ichii
I get that when I put in the boot disk, it would start up then it would stop there at that message. ~pcwiz
Its most likely a problem with your USB drive but try using the JaS 10.4.8 disc. Also make sure you external HD is formatted as FAT32 before installation. ichii
if it's the usb drive, I could just install with the hdd drive connecting to my ide right? I also wanted to know if my hardware is compatable. ~pcwiz
Yeah try what you said. As for your system being compatible, everything will work if you use the JaS 10.4.8 disc except networking and also your video card looks unsupported under OS X but the only feature you will lose is QE/CI. ichii
I'm trying to get Jas 10.4.8 disc should I mount the image or burn it out on a disc? If my video card isn't compatable it should still work right? ~pcwiz
What do you mean mount it? You can't mount it if you are doing a native install! You NEED to burn the disc and boot from it. For your video card, I checked in the wiki and it says that the card causes a kernel panic at boot, but I think thats only if you install video drivers so if you don't install video drivers I think you should be OK. ~pcwiz
Install it natively, don't install it using VMware. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65574-error-while-installing-help-please/#findComment-466023 Share on other sites
ichii
I tried installing it natively and I got that message ATA Driver Claims Flush Cache ext feature support but does not claim extended LBA feature support I installed it fine using VMware, I prefer installing it natively though. I have a SATA HDD I was wondering if that's the problem. ~pcwiz
Yep, it looks like the SATA HD is the problem. You have an nForce chipset and with that, you wont likely be able to install to SATA. Get a PATA (IDE) drive. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65574-error-while-installing-help-please/#findComment-466103 Share on other sites
ichii
How smooth would OS X run with my PC specs? I already have a Mac and just wanted to run it on PC just for fun. I wasn't planning to upgrade. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65574-error-while-installing-help-please/#findComment-470102 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
If it does run at all, your computer would be so-so at running OS X. The graphics and processor aren't great but OS X should still run pretty well. Extension "com.apple.iokit.iousbmassstorageclass has no kernel dependency I get these same error messages and don't follow the solutions above. I'm trying on an external hard drive, and have created the own partition for the OS X with Partition Magic 8. Here's my specs: Dell Dimension C521 AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2300 + @ 2.0 GHZ 3.00 GB of RAM 128 MB Radeon X1300 video card iomega USB hard drive I'm running XP media center SP 2. I have a decent general knowledge of what I'm doing, but the error message and solutions above go over my head, so be soft. I appreciate any help you can provide, and I look forward to learning from you all. GREAT work is done here. Thanks!
