TA_Superman
Hoping someone can help me here. I have a Dell XPS m1330 running OSX 10.4.10. Well I read about AppleHDA patcher for getting your sound to work. I went into my linux live cd and dumped the card info and ran AppleHDAPatcher. The card is detected now only thing is sound will not come out through the speakers only through the headphones when connected. It is a Sigmatel 9228 card. The laptop itself has 2 speakers, 2 headphone jacks and a input jack + microphone array. Here is the linux dump. Hope someone can give me some suggestions. markiemark
hi, I'm sorry i don't know an answer for your problem but i'm curious. Which install did you use for 10.4.10. I also have a m1330 and used the uphuck and kalway but both were unsuccesfull. i hope you can help me? thanks in advance. markiemark Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64837-sigmatel-9228-applehdapatcher/#findComment-460004 Share on other sites
TA_Superman
I used Uphuck 10.4.9 1.3. When the cd boots press f8 to enter startup options. I used "-v cpus=1". Then it will start to boot up. It will stall when it says something about IOAPIC. So what I did was eject the cd then pop it back in right away, this unstalls this part. After it will bootup fine. Install OSX as normal with Intel SSE3-2 kernel. After that i upgraded to 10.4.10 without nvidia kexts. macgirl
I also have sound only thru headphones, but this is not strange to me, I reinstalled vista and that driver have the same problem, only after I installed the driver of Dell I got sound from speakers. TheMaxx32000
combined-jack problem... NodeID's are set incorrectly for combined-jacks. Thats why you can add NodeID's for line-out, hp, speaker, mic and line in und you will have 5 devices showing up, but in vista there are only 2? or 3?... So, the right combination is needed here, and I was too lazy to figure it out, since wireless does not work in my M1330 with original Apple AR5008X card Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64837-sigmatel-9228-applehdapatcher/#findComment-474065 Share on other sites

Carlchen
curious to know as well. I need sound for audio recording, has anyone found a workaround? I'm about to ditch my 1400 vostro and just buy a new laptop next month. macgirl
A fast and reliable solution for you is an USB Soundcard, there are a lot of cheap ones though. meatwad64
with a usb soundcard can you have sound through the internal speakers? I was under the impression you would need external speakers to have sound with a usb soundcard. macgirl
Of course you need external speakers, but there are also USB speakers (like an USB soundcard is already integrated). The only way to get internal speakers working with USB soundcard is to solder the internal speakers to a cable that go to the usb soundcard output jack.
