Hi,My specs are below in my signature. I am using an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB PCIe card with OS X and I have installed the Natit X1600 Drivers as well. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17". Apparently, according to OS X, Quartz Extreme and Core Image are not supported. Pic from System Profiler:

Why? I have already installed the Natit X1600 series drivers for my card. Without QE/CI, I can't do anyting (iMovie, etc.) Is there any patch or anything I have to load?

PLEEZ help.

Thanks in advance

pcwiz

EDIT: ]I just also tried enabling the QE/CI for my video card using this file in this post:

I am really not willing to flash the BIOS on my card. Isn't there a software based solution?

I messaged a lot of people I know asking for help so if you don't know about it, no worries. You tried to help :censored2:

EDIT: I thought of another idea: Is there anyway to bypass the QE/IE detection on iMovie, etc. so I can run the apps without actually having QE/CI?

OK, after reading blacknights post, It seems I am supposed to install without Natit drivers and then install the package right? Installed the package with the Natit drivers installed and it screwed up OS X. OS X hanged at Login Window Application Started.

So Install without Natit drivers and then install x1650 package?

what is the device id for your card?

mine is 0x71c6

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

VRAM (Total): 512 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x71c6

Revision ID: 0x0000

Displays:

Philips 170B2:

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Supported

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Rotation: Supported

i can see your device id from the pic you posted, but are you sure that is the correct id?

p.s. it's late for me :afro:

Mines is 0x71C1

Apparently the instructions in this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=52826&st=0

are supposed to enable QE/CI. But the thing is, as soon as I install Modbin x1650-8.9.1.zip, my OS X wont boot anymore. It hangs at Login Window Application Started. The modbin fix is only for 0x71c6 but in the instructions in the above thread, there are fixes to enable it on 0x71c1. But then again, I installed the modbin package WITH Natit X1600 drivers installed so am I supposed to remove the Natit drivers and then install the package?

I got a message saying to add my device ID to ATIRadeonX1000.kext to get QE/CI to work. How do you do this? Could someone please prepatch the X1000 kext file and add this video card device id:

0x71c1

Or can someone tell me how to add the device id myself?

copy ATIRadeonX1000.kext to your desktop then right click on it and choose show content after that open info.plist or what ever it is called in the text editor go to the node where is has "match" in the name under it you will find several device ids put yours there and then save and copy ATIRadeonX1000.kext back to the extensions folder and repair permissions

note : make a copy of ATIRadeonX1000.kext before you play with it.

I'll try to modify the kext myself once I have access to my Hackint0sh.Oh yeah and karmatose, I PMed you and emailed you to tell that I wanted the kexts. If you can get them, that would be great but if not, I think I can do it myself.I found this method on a thread:

Ok people, this is a reply to you & any other person that wants to follow my method and see what can come out of it...I suggest you install first modbin's X1650 package, reboot, select the desired resolution, and get ready to modify the files.Get a Hex Editor, i suggest 0xED (Yes, this is the name of the Hex Editor Program).Copy files "ATIRadeonX1000.kext","ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin","ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle" from /System/Library/Extensions on your desktop.1) Show contents of "ATIRadeonX1000.kext", go into /Contents/MacOSX and hex edit "ATIRadeonX1000" binary file. Replace *every* occurence of C071 with your Device ID (Example, my Device ID in reality is 0x71C1 so in the file i'll write it as C171). Save the modified file. In the same .kext edit "Info.plist" file with TextEdit and replace the *only* 0x71C01002 entry with yours. In my case it is 0x71C11002.2) Show contents of "ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin", edit "Info.plist" with TextEdit, and you will see 2 strings in the following format: 100271C0-0000-0000-0000-000a27898d3e. Again replace the 71C0 with your Device ID on both. Save the file.3) Show contents of "ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle", hex edit the binary inside /Contents/MacOSX and replace C071 entries with your own, just like you did on step (1). Save the file.Drag n drop those 3 files form your desktop into /System/Library/Extensions (Authenticate & Replace).Open Terminal:sudo -schmod -f 755 /System/Library/Extensionschown root:wheel /System/Library/Extensionsdiskutil repairPermissions /reboot*** That's all, hopefully it will work for many people. From my experience before doing that, install modbin's package, or else you will get Mouse Tearing.
Do I really have to edit these binaries or could I just add the device id as blacknight said? Also, it says to install modbins package before, I have Natit X1600 installed so would that be OK? Need some clarifications.

It sounds like you need to get rid of the Natit drivers first and then install the new one. I really don't know as I don't have experience with ati or nVidia drivers at all. Alot of this stuff is trial and error. Take some advise and try it and see what happens. If it doesn't work try something else until you get it to work.

OK, I'll try removing the Natit drivers and installing modbin. But how do I uninstall the drivers? I already have the Natit installed. Do I just go into System/Library/Extensions/ and delete natit.kext?

EDIT: I'll try adding the device id first because its easier

I added the device id to ATIRadeonX1000.kext and I've replaced the file. Now I'm gonna reboot and see if it works :) Hopefully it will.EDIT: I added the following device id to the kext. I hope its correct:0x71C11002Well, I rebooted and I got a kernel panic with X1000.kext. Luckily, I made a backup of the file so I restored that but that still doesn't solve the QE/CI problem. So, I'm going to *gulp* remove the Natit drivers and install the Modbin package.I'm installing the packages through VMware....OK, I backed up Extensions and I installed Modbin...The VM has rebooted. Darn..It froze and the CPU halted. Looks like I'll have to return the USB drive. Nothings working. :hysterical: I can keep the drive for another 2 weeks or so until my warranty period expires so I backed up all the extensions before Modbin so how can I restore them? I can boot into single user mode.

Never mind all the crud above. I GOT IT TO WORK. The story: I removed Natit and installed Modbin via VMware to my USB drive. Then VMware rebooted and I got kernel panics so I though it was screwed. Then, just by coincidence, I booted it natively with Modbin w/o VMware and it booted! Then I applied the kozlowski fix for my graphics card and now QE/CI is supported! So, instructions:

1) Remove all video card Natit drivers (delete NatitX1600.kext from System/Library/Extensions)

2) Follow the instructions on this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=52826&st=0

And you're done! In addition to QE and CI working, the machine seems to be faster, and removing the Natit drivers seemed to cut a few seconds off the loading time!

Anyway, problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who posted here and to modbin and kozlowski for the fixes.

I just wanted to say another thing: Once you install modbin, you lose a useful feature: The ability to boot your OS X installation using VMware. You're probably asking why you would want to boot a native install using VMware but the answer is that VMware is the most useful tool for troubleshooting OS X when it wont boot. If you've added a new extension or a kernel and your OS X won't boot, chances are you could boot using VMware and reverse the damage.

This method has gotten me out of countless reinstalls of OS X. But, once you install modbin, VMware doesn't like it so you can't boot your native OS X install using VMware.

Just wanted to let you know :boxing:
