Damn /.com.apple.Boot.plist not found error after installation

I follow the guide I found on this site to install OSX on GigaByte GA-965P-S3 motherboard, and somehow I figure out how to get the Uphuck installation DVD (10.4.9) to run and install, but everytime I reboot, I get the damn /.com.apple.Boot.plist not found error. I tried to make the partition active, and do re-installation a few times, but I always get the same error. I tried different AHCI setting, but it still won't boot. Did I screw up on the driver selection? I pick SATA support or not, and it still won't boot. Is there anyway I can access the plist file and make changes to it if something is wrong with it? I just want to get the damn thing working - cannot imagine trying to get it to boot is so tough - trying to get the installation DVD to run is painful enough as it is...

Use the disk utility from your install disk to format and insure to select the MBR option.

How do you get that option? I remember seeing the option for either it's the bootup drive for Intel Macs, regular Mac drive and another option, but I don't remember seeing the MBR option. How can you access that option? Anyone has the step by step in how to select the proper option when setting up the partition?

its in the partitioning tool, you can pick the intel based option, the power pc option, and then theres the Master Boot Record (MBR)

hope that helps

That was the problem - I change that and at least I can get the system to boot up to the panic screen :P After changing back to ACHI mode, then it's working again. Will play around with the various setting again later on. Thanks for the help!
