I have been reading the forums for a couple days. I successfully got 10.4.9 to install on a 965 board. Of course, some of my PCI cards don't work and the onboard sound is limited to 2 channel. etc etc..

So what is the dream set up to make a cheap fully functional Hackintosh.

Some people managed to get all their hardware to work with OSX, but as far as I know there is no perfect motherboard with all features fully functionnal.

For my upcoming Hackintosh I've chosen the Gigabyte P35 DS3P, which seems to work pretty well out of the box, and requires patching for audio and lan only. Once the patching is done, you get a fully working Hackintosh!

The only improvement that could be done is to get the mic/line-in to work. Right now it's only 2ch out audio.

Dream set up:

Gigabyte P35 DS3P

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

2Gb PC5300/6400 DDR2 of your choice

Leadtek 7900GS 256Mb

SATA 2 HDD of your choice

SATA DVD drive of your choice

This is less than 700€ worth here :D

This question gets asked a lot. It all depends on how much fiddling your willing to do. But for the sake of having an easy life I'd build something similar to what onizuka suggested. I've just ordered a GA-P35-DS3P motherboard myself.

Don't forget to tell me about any issues/successes you have with it

Until someone manages to find a motherboard with EXACTLY the same parts as some model of Mac, and is successfully able to flash a copy of the Mac EFI to it (I know there were some efforts along this line last year), there will never be a PERFECT Hackintosh. Some systems get really, really close, but I don't think there is a single system where everything works 100%.
