Hi

currently using the onboard gma 950 grafiks as 7330/7600 cards are pretty cheap.

what is the best way to go about making the upgrade.

Also the machine is not a games player so frame rates etc are not important for pshop and music and a bity of media production will I see much advantage from one of the above cards or just leave things alone.

The only real temptation with the prices of lcd's dropping would be to choose a good card that would allow dual monitors so as to keep all my palletes on one screen etc etc.

any advice greatfully recieved

Jez

Well, it sounds like its kinda up to your personal preference. Since you aren't gaming or doing professional media production you're out of the prime target audience for graphics updates. However, photoshop would probably like an upgrade and maybe some of the lighter media production stuff. These cards are certainly cheap enough to buy and throw in, but I think it will mostly depend on how much lag you wish to deal with. Also, I believe that you could use an ADD2 card to get another head for a second monitor if you wanted to stay with the integrated solution.

From what I understand, an ATI X19x0XT is the fastest working card currently. (Until someone gets an 8800 working.)

It supports dual monitors, using jccool driver.

You can get an X19x0 for around 200 bucks or so. At that price it's a pretty good bargain even if you don't plan to play many games (such as me I have an X1900XTX.)
