hi

I'm using an externel harddrive (internel ide seagate in an externel case, barracuda 300 gb in ntfs fileformat). i can connect via firewire or usb. both options lead to a kernel panic under mac osx (jas osx 10.4.8). the harddisk gets recognized but after i click on a file the whole system crashes. has anyone any solution? i really need the files on the externel harddisk.

i have a lenovo 3000 n100 laptop (in case you need this information)

intel core duo

intel gma 950 graphic

1 gb ram

perhaps by installing the new ntfs readable/writable ntfs driver that is floating around for osx.

have you any kind of link for this driver? the strange thing is that the harddisk made no problems with a macbook pro (at least was readable).

greetings

On my asus p4p800 Deluxe P4 3.4Ghz SSE3, Nvidia 6600GTS, 2Gb, IDE JaS 10.4.8/10.4.9 installation connecting an external LaCIE usb harddisk that is switched ON at boot will stop proper booting dead in it's tracks. Switching the LaCIE drive on after OSX is booted no problem.

Are you experiencing kernel paniks whilst booting, or when you connect the usb harddrive to an up and running OSX?
