toxicdrift
planing to head the mac way people and i need something that "would" run leopard in all its glory (well almost) if uphuck releases it ever. But as for the releases available rite now... what would be the best "bang for the buck" config (or YOUR config) with easy patches (if needed) to use. Should i go with the 945 in the world of p35 n +800mhz ram ??? Pls suggest me a good config to buy as im really confused . thanx. bonestonne
don't say future proof. ever. its not possible unless you aim to future proof yourself for 2-4 months. wait for penryn cores, get a bearlake chipset. get DDR3 RAM. get SATA3.0gb/s. get 20x DL DVD+/-RW burner. thats about the best i can say to future proof you. if you really want to run as close to a mac as possible, get a dual socket supermicro intel Xeon board, get yourself a pair of 2.66ghz Xeons and 4gb DDR2 RAM. you'll be set. thats about the average Mac Pro right now. if you want to beat every mac pro, get Intel Xeon 5355 CPUs, you'll knock the pants off any Mac there is. for the home user however, wait for penryn if you want speed/cooling performance. sarahbau
if you want to beat every mac pro, get Intel Xeon 5355 CPUs, you'll knock the pants off any Mac there is. Considering Apple uses two Xeon 5365s in the 8-core 3.0GHz Mac Pro (vs the 2.66GHz 5355), I doubt the dual 5355 would beat that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61171-so-which-hackintosh-config-do-u-buy-now/#findComment-434168 Share on other sites

toxicdrift
well for now ive just ordered these 1) Patriot extreme performance 2gb pc2 6400 ddr2 800mhz kit (ORDERED) 2) planing 2 go for the abit ip35 pro board. (confused about the cpu) or any other p35. On board Dual Gigabit LAN controller supports 10/100/1000M Ethernet (Realtek RTL8110SC) (is this supported in uphuck?) On board 7.1 CH HD Audio CODEC (Realtek ALC888) this should work right. same audio as the 945. 3) also gfx... are the 7 series better supported then the 8 nvidia? which one should i go for.. not the biggest of gamers.. but i wouldnt mind trying out some new games on the market @ good resolutions . also i should be able 2 run mac @ high res 1280 n above. help guys.. thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61171-so-which-hackintosh-config-do-u-buy-now/#findComment-435254 Share on other sites

Example: GeForce 7900GT. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61171-so-which-hackintosh-config-do-u-buy-now/#findComment-436123 Share on other sites
