Has anyone got sound to work on this board using native from DVD?

In System Profiler there's nothing at all listed under Sound.

Thanks for any help!

I just made a successful installation on this board using the Developer Kit DVD patched only with the oah750d file replaced. I didn't have any sound when it finished. I logged in as root and dragged over the AppleAC97Audio.kext folder from the Darwin 8.01 ISO (which is available for download from opendarwin.org and several other places) into the System/Library/Extensions folder. I rebooted and had sound. It was as simple as that. Hope it works for you as well!

I'm a happy new MAC user thanks to OSx86 Project and a couple of other places (some of which are no longer with us others which are great resources)!

You need to patch the core graphics file back in

can you please give a step by step manual how to do ths

a already have the file  :D

Installing OSX Tiger on an ASRock 775Dual-915GL motherboard with an SSE3 capable processor:

Needed files:

*- The original OSX Tiger x86 Developer Kit DVD and an ISO or DMG image of that DVD (you'll need to convert the image to ISO if you have a DMG image).

*- A patched oah750d file.

*- Transmac

*- The AppleAC97Audio.kext file from the Darwin 8.01 install ISO

Step 1 (Patching the DVD):

Load the Tiger image file in Transmac. Select Options -> Show Hidden files.

Navigate to the /usr/libexec/oah/ directory and drag the patched oah750d file into the bottom pane of Transmac. It should ask if you want to replace the file. Select yes.

Close Transmac.

Burn the DVD.

Step 2 (Installing the DVD):

Make sure you are using a PATA or IDE hard drive, a USB keyboard and mouse and the onboard video, lan and audio for this step. I cannot guarantee that it will work otherwise. The only step here is to insert the DVD, boot from it and select Install OSX.

Step 3 (Getting audio):

Once you've booted into OSX, if you don't see a volume icon at the top of the screen, and can't change the volume, you probably don't have sound. The onboard sound on the ASROCK 775Dual-915GL will work with the AppleAC97Audio.kext from Darwin, but unless you are the Super User on the computer, it will not allow you to copy the .kext file to the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. There are a couple of ways to enable the root user. The easiest way is to open Terminal (Select Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal) and type:

sudo passwd root

Enter a password to enable root access.

The way I did it and what is probably a harder way is this:

Open NetInfo Manager in the Utilities folder in your Aplications folder.

Click the lock to make changes, enter your password.

Choose on the top menu Security > Enable Root User (note: if you do not have this option root user is already enabled, if not choose Enable Root User.)

Close NetInfo Manager.

Log out by going to Apple menu.

Log back in with username:root, and the password for root user you set up when you installed OSX.

Log In. You now have access to everything; just be careful — you could really mess up your system..

Then you copy the AppleAC97Audio.kext file from Darwin to the /System/Library/Extensions folder and reboot. You should be safely able to Disable the Root User's access and enjoy your new Intel MAC.
