mariana
Okay i want internet hosting so I can access files anywhere. On ebay they have unlimited space, etc for 9.95 a year, is there a catch to this. Like are are they going to charge me alot for a second year? _________________ san antonio apartments outdoor fountain waterfall Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60779-is-there-a-catch-to-this-hosting-plan/ Share on other sites
Headrush69
Unless you post the link to the site, no one knows, there are thousands of web hosting sites. I'd be suspicious of one sold on ebay, but you never now. skyhighmac
Just get a regular hosting package. Anything like that off of anywhere is definitely suspicious. No one offers unlimited space. Colonel
Go get .Mac. It's $100 a year for 10GB of space, but you also get email, disk storage, your hosting, Back-to-my-Mac, iLife functionality, and all the other goodies it comes with.. A Nonny Moose
Or do it the easy way: Go and enable web access on your system and run your own server for free. thegodfaza
Do what I do. Set your machine to remote boot. Go to http://www.dslreports.com/wakeup. From there type in your IP Address and the MAC address of your computer and wait for it to boot. Of course WakeonLAN has to be enabled and your motherboard has to be compliant. I think it is AMD only since AMD designed it. This is a good way to run a personal file server since it will use the least amount of power and has the smallest chance of being comprimized. Unless they know your ip and mac addresses. Then your screwed.
