Hi everyone,

It is with great pleasure that I announce that I am now the proud owner of a beautiful new 15.4" 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro (which I absolutely love to death). For over a year now I've been doing all my music work on a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac mini upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. The mini was surprisingly able when it came to making music in Logic Express and I rarely experienced any kind of overload where it couldn't play what I was working on.

I've just finished migrating all of my applications and data from the mini to my new MacBook Pro, and bizarrely, it seems to be having much more of a problem playing projects back to me in Logic Express, and I was wondering if anyone here could help me figure out why that is and possibly help it to run better.

One of my most basic projects currently only has two channels of the Arturia CS-80V synthesizer, but when playing the project back with no other programs open on the MacBook Pro, playback seems to stop every 5-10 seconds. There is no error message about a CoreAudio overload and playback actually continues -- but the audio itself drops away for 1-2 seconds before coming back. The same thing happens on bigger projects with over 300 MB of orchestra samples loaded into memory (the problem is no worse), which makes me think it's not actually a problem with system resources, but perhaps with my configuration somehow.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to configuration changes I could possibly make to help the system handle Logic Express better so that the audio doesn't drop away as it is now.

Thanks in advance!

Well I feel very embarrassed now... turns out the authorization for one of my audio mastering plugins that I use on nearly all my tracks didn't transfer over from my Mac mini and it was stuck in demo mode, chopping out audio every 10 seconds as a demo limitation.

Sorry about that everyone... thanks anyway!
