Not sure if this is the right place for this. If not, feel free to relocate it...

They are Windy Soldam cases; designed, made and manufactured only in Japan, available only in Japan (unless you have a hookup in Japan to ship you one at a ridiculous shipping rate)

.jp link (Japanese text only, obviously.. perhaps someone could translate?)

if Apple were to buy these guys out, they really would have the sexiest cases on earth (IMO)

lol, someone link this to Steve Jobs

I'm sorry, but I'll take the Mac Pro case (which is arguably the best looking case out there) over this in a heartbeat. The closest PC case that I can think of that has similar sexyness in its own way, is the Coolermaster Stacker CM 830. That's the closest I can think of that can compete with the Mac Pro case. This one is nowhere near looking good (imo).

Usually cases are discussed in the "mods" section, this is not news per se. This is a thread for slick hackint0sh cases: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...145&hl=case

So how much are these cases and are they available in the US or what?

Next time post some pictures so we can see without clicking:

Amen, they're nothing special...

Oh, I disagree. These are super cases that look better that Lian Li. Just check out the feet:

they are good for a custom pc, but the Mac Pro cases just match apple :(

Yes, the Mac Pro / G5 cases are awesome, but I still wish they would have switch the Mac Pro to anodized black. The problem is that using an Apple case for a hackint0sh appears to be a very time consuming hassle.

@Bofors Great to see you back

They look OK but they are no Mac Pro

I don't care for that rivet look it says to me cheap and tacky

I prefer the minimal look over flashy thats why I bought an Antec P182 case.

In a moment of impulse I bought the 182SE. :( But damned if it doesn't look good when I look at it straight on. ;) Here's a pic of someone else's: http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/7682/img5442pf8.jpg

EDIT: Yeah, this is the one Technobob is talking about. It is like something straight out of the 70's...

Mirrors on the ceiling

Pink champagne on ice

And she said

We are all just prisoners here

Of our own device

@Bofors Great to see you back

Thanks...

I was just about to say the only thing I really do not like about these Windy cases are the rivets.

I hate doors on cases, so I would go with the Antec P150 / Solo instead. For what it is worth, I got three CoolerMaster Centurion 5 cases last year for my hackinst0shs and am pretty happy with them. They are not prefect, but they look nice and are dirt cheap at about $45.

I'm not a big fan of doors because of the optical drive but my plans for this case the door is fine and I use a external burner anyways. I'm going to use the 4x5 1/4 bays to fit 2 Kingwin KF3000 drive racks to increase hard drive capacity to 12 drives over the current 6

Maybe if you're 12 years old those cases look nice but in the real world nothing beats a Mac Pro. The Mac Mini is probably the most innovative case design. I liked the mirror finish one above but it's way to boxy. Needs to be updated with some curves. Apple still has the sexiest looking computers around :)
