ManiacN
So I've tried to Install Leopard, but during the Installation, when It asks me what disk to install it on (I choose Macintosh HD) it tells me that it needs to erase everything to make new, and all my data will be erased. Is this supposed to happen? Does it mean all my files will disspear? MrDee
I think this is just a generic confirmation message to inform the user just in case they do have any content on the drive. I assume you are installing on a partition called 'Macintosh HD', but if its the root drive on which an operating system such as Tiger is already installed, then thats why it asked that question. I don't have access to Leopard, but, I'm not sure if the most recent builds support upgrading from prior versions of Mac OS X or previous builds of Leopard for instance, so those are things to look into. ManiacN
Btw, it is 9A499. I am, I believe, installing it on the root drive. Will this erase any or all of my files, or just Tiger? Oh, and it also says that the installation settings must be changed before it can be installed on the volume. Does this ring any bells? MrDee
If its the root drive on which an existing operating system is already installed (in this case Tiger), then yes, it will erase "ALL" files, it seems build 9A499 does not support upgrading from previous versions of OS X. As for the other requirement, 'installation settings must be changed', nope, no idea. Either, there isn't enough space on the drive and you need to do a custom install to remove certain features to save space or there is a compatibility issue with the system and Leopard.
