MacSimizeDenver Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Hi there, I've purchased Colin McRae's Dirt last week and finally ended up playing the game in 800x600 with mostly everything turned off in graphics to get an acceptable performance while playing. Damn! I'm running the Gigayte x1600 pro SilentPipe II, a passive cooled card, which performs nice in JaS OSX86 10.4.9 with semthex kernel and natit drivers. It was also great playing games like X3:Reunion, Oblivion and stuff like that in XP. But playing CMR's Dirt with it is really annoying so I'm nearlly quit with that card and searching the best alternative to have a great performance in OSX86 and gaming in XP. Anybody know an solution? Or should I just wait until the Dirt Publisher release some patch to get a better performance on cards like the x1600 (even if this would never happen)? niteman1969 Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 The NVidia 7xxx series work under osx very well. Try a 79xx series and it should be pretty good for gaming. Don't get a 512mb card unless you want to mess with patching the rom. Alternatively i guess you could try a ATI X1900 or 1950 but i don't know what the support is like in osx.
