Silent Hackintosh Challenge

I peaced together a system from that online store link you posted. With a limited budget this is as close to the £400 that you have to spend.

The video card has a fan but you can replace it with a silent VGA cooler later when you have the cash.

I went with a smaller hard drive to save £20 300GB is still plenty for an OS drive besides you can always add on again when you have the cash.

The motherboard seems to work in OSX according to this thread.

That site has limited selections on CPU coolers but this one will run quiet and keep your CPU chilled nicely. Or you can run the stock cooler for now and buy a better one later to save £19

I went with Antec Sonata III because there is no money to buy a case & PSU separate. This case will save you over £30

If your planning to buy online I offer this advice, take your time, have a list of what parts you want, search many sites for best prices and reputation.

From my experience building quiet computers, here's what you need:

* Arctic Cooling fan/heatsink for your processor (whichever fits your CPU)

* Antec Sonata case (don't add extra fans, duh)

* Motherboard with no northbridge fan

* Video card with no fan (if you're not playing 3D games, any cheap-o card will do)
