Hey Guys. I hope someone can help.

I have the Uphuck 1.3 Installed (AMD - SSE3) along with the 10.4.10 Patch added.

I'm having this weird problem.

When I install Neooffice it says it can't cause I have an older version of Java???

I have confirmed that I have 1.5.0

Also when I download Java from Apple and try to re-install, it says the version of Java I have installed is newer!!!??????

I have tried other Java Apps...Azureus works fine...but Cabos says I have no Java Installed????

Someone please help!!!!!

Have you tried to re-download the installation files for NeoOffice? What version of Java does the program require? How did you verify which version of Java you have? Maybe you need to set up a path to your java binaries as well.

Thank God!

At least one reply.

Hey Hecker...

The program requires Java 1.5 or older. I have from 1.3 up to 1.5.

The funny thing is even when I try to run the Java installer (to try and re-install it...if that's even possible) it says I have a newer version of Java installed?????

I managed to install Neooffice just now with the Uphuck installer...but when I try and run the update, same Java too old message.

:)

Did I understand correctly that you have several different versions of Java installed? If so, you should first remove all instances below 1.5 or maybe even remove them all and then try re-installing 1.5. I will see if I can dig up some other info for you in the meantime.

Cheers,

From what I understand, you can't uninstall Java?

Or is there a way I don't know of?

Thanks again for your help Hecker.

Hmm, from what I have read here, there seems like there is now way of removing Java unless you re-install the whole system.

If you have already installed the latest available version for OSX (link), then the problem must be somewhere else.

I am out of ideas for now but I promise to post here if I find any solution for your problem. If you have a good backup software installed then you could first make a clone of your whole system and try installing the software before applying any patches to OSX. This is of course a lot of work so it's up to you.

Hey hecker...

That's the funny thing...why would the latest version of Java tell me that I have a newer version installed?!?

I checked the neooffice forums...and someone seems to have a similar problem...unfortunately there's been no reply from the original poster since the 18th...

do you can open azureus, acqlite or other java based app without any issues? also some safari or other browser crashes when opening some certain java websites?

in some previous 10.4.8 manual installation i had this problems, java just broken and bugous

i tried everything and the only way to get java working again is doing a fresh install from dvd.

also, aways update your java from software update.

better lucky next time. :P

Azureus works fine. Neooffice also opens up fine (I couldn't install it from within OSX...I had to install it via the Uphuck installer). When I try to update neooffice from within OSX, it's the same problem again.

Also Cabos reports that I don't have Java?!?
