Vosster
Hello. I've installed the JAS 10.4.8 verion of OSX, but I can't start or restart the OS without the installation DVD. If the OSx86-DVD isn't inside the DVD-Drive it stops at some BIOS-Screen. If I boot the OS with the DVD and try to restart it, I end up with a black screen. After the installation process was finished the computer also wasn't able to restart. I had to cut the power supply. Could someone help me? System: Intel D 830, Mobo: i945P Chipset, Nvidia 6700XL(fully works with Titan) Thanks. Vosster
No ideas? I posted it here because I thought of an installation problem. Please Help! Thank you. strentax
I doubt this will help you, but I had a similar issue - my problem was I forgot to choose a kernel when installing it my first time (although i used a different image than you). After I installed again with a kernel it worked fine. Vosster
I finally came to the conclusion that the "JAS 10.4.8 Intel Only" installation DVD is currupt in general. I also read about that in the internet. I downloaded the "JAS 10.4.8 AMD INTEL SSE2 SEE3" image and nearly everything worked directly. It wasn't even necessary to install the Titan.kext for my Geforce because it came directly with the intstallation. Thanks anyway. hecker
Did you create a primary partition to host your OSX? hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57340-cant-start-or-restart-without-dvd/#findComment-414148 Share on other sites
Vosster
Yes I did. It was a standart Mac OS X Journaled formated partition which was set as active. If it wasn't active , this would have been an explanation for the boot problem. But the system also wasn't able to restart out of the OS. The screen simply froze after clicking on "restart". I'm pretty sure now that I did nothing wrong in the installation process. As I said, the image I used was corrupt. I installed the new image exactly the same way I did with the currupt one and now I got a good running OSx 10.4.8 system. hecker
Did you choose your partition as the standard boot device from your configuration panel? hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57340-cant-start-or-restart-without-dvd/#findComment-414212 Share on other sites
