mexicano1245
Hello everyone, this is my first post here! (yay! xD) Can someone point me a solution for this error, Im sure is not that complicated, But I've read a lot of documentation here and at the wiki and Still can't find my next step. You can see my hardware at my signature Ok then... Im using a burned file of "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso" which is a popular file amongside "JaS.10.4.9.Combo.Update.Intel.SSE3.zip" at the green demon. The DVD disc boots right, It DOES recognize my SATA2 Western Digital 500GB Disk (I deleted all previosly created partion just to left hackingtosh alone to run on this box), It installs everything and succesfully restarts. After It reboots, it gives me the so~so called "Still waiting for root device" error. The thing is that I've tried with 3 HDD, a SATA1 a SATA2 and a ultra-old 4GB maxtor disk, and the only one who boots with no problems after restarting is the 4GB PATA Maxtor disk, so it's obviusly an Nforce4 SATA driver problem. I have read that you sorta have to compile the Nforce4 driver into the ISO but I haven't found information on how to do this. Im attaching 4 screenshots, 1 of the apple boot logo where it stucks, 2 of the boot process, and 1 of the desktop inside the 4GB Maxtor disk to show it's properly working. Thanks in advance! Gian-Pa
Hi, actually is quite a long time I haven't tried to installing macosx x86 in my PC. I'm not quite sure if it worked. But I think I had the same problem. That's why I didn't tried again and just wait for a new iso image. Sorry I can't help you to resolve this... cbmkgd
Searching the forum with the words "Nforce4 SATA" (quote included), one can readily find: Darwin nForce4 ATA/SATA controller No need to compile. Make sure your chipset is really supported (browse the thread). The controller is already present on myzar's 'tubgirl' 10.4.9 dvd (ie 10.4.8 + ppf patch, available on the bay of pirates).
