Pecetta
Hello Folk, I've just installed Mac OS X on my pc, the installer works fine until the end of the installation then it reboots, but when booting I just can read the message: 'Panic CPU (CPU 0 caller 0X003A8D2F) Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI". My hardware is: CPU Intel Pentium D (presler) LGA775 65nm 2.400v 2.80GHz MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64T. Mainboard AsRock 775i65G i865P/PE/G/i848P BIOS American Megatrend v3.10 NVidia GeForce 6200 A-LE AGP My questions are: - Is it a CPU problem? - Is it a mainboard or whatever else? - What does mean that message? - Can I solve this problem by updating some BIOS or spftware or do I have to buy some harware ? - What could try do download from this website Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55860-panic-cpu-cpu-0-caller-0x003a8d2f-unable-to-find-driver-for-this-platform-acpi/ Share on other sites
mourngrym1969
What version of the Mac OSX are you using? JaS DVD 10.48? Uphuck 10.4.9, which version? Tubgirl 10.4.9? What you can attempt to do is boot from the installation DVD but don't install. From the Utility menu, pick 'Terminal'. Do the following at a command prompt: cd /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions mkdir /Volumes/YourDriveName/backupbackup the files we are moving to [*]mv IOACPI* /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions [*]touch /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions [*]rm /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions.mkext [*]rm /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions.kextcache [*]kextcache -k /Volumes/YourDriveName/System/Library/Extensions [*]reboot That will remove all ACPI functions from your kernel and may allow you to boot. Note you will have NO POWER MANAGEMENT (sleep, screen blank, etc), but that may get you to the point where you can use your system and further troubleshoot. If you are not already, download and use Uphuck's DVD 10.4.9 Ver. 1.3 (plenty of seeders on bittorrent sites). It fixes a lot of ACPI issues. Good Luck! MobZor
I'm having the same issue, only more bizzare. Installer worked PERFECT. Rebooted and everything was wonderful, was singing the music and everything. Configured my system, installed ONE kext to make my FA311 ethernet work and it was awesome. Downloaded some music with frostwire and left my pc running for about 5 hours. Came home, everything was cool, it asked me to close iTunes to update it to the latest version, i left to smoke a cig (did not close iTunes that I remember) came back and had that kernal panic. I did not change any settings or anything. Weird. I'm going to follow these instructions and I'll let you know if it works. P.S. Running JAS 10.4.8 AMD Sempron 3000+ Gigabyte GA-55SLI-S4 PATA-100 IDE 80GB (Master) IDE DVD Drive (Slave) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55860-panic-cpu-cpu-0-caller-0x003a8d2f-unable-to-find-driver-for-this-platform-acpi/#findComment-531691 Share on other sites
