bluedevilsnare
Everyone, I've searched the forum for solutions to the QE/CI support problem but have found nothing that has helped me. I've tried Callisto008 and agpgart 2.1/2.2. One thing to note is that after installing JaS' 10.4.8 AMD Intel Sse2 Sse3 OSX86, it recognizes it with all of the correct details. (AGP, 128MB, 0x4E48 ID, 0x1002 vender ID) It also says that QE/CI is supported. It is after I've done the solutions I've found on the site (to get higher resolutions and ameliorate mouse tearing) that QE/CI is "not supported" Any ideas? (Mods, I'm sorry if I have posted this on the wrong forum!)
Scrizz
do not install agpgart! install Callisto 008, and make sure you read Callisto's faq to get QE/CI + res switching. It's something like... replace "IONDRVFramebuffer" under "IOProviderClass" in the ATIRADEON9700GA.plugin located in "/System/Library/Extensions" It should work, once you get it you'll have a better system. You are soooo close don't give up. my radeon 9800XT pwns oh yeah make sure you delete Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache and don't forget to repair permissions
bluedevilsnare
thanks for the response... callisto's faq said to open the plugin that had my card model on the title. I have a 9800 but is it okay to do it with the radeon9700ga.plugin? If I recall I did change the "IODRVFrameBuffer" to "CallistoFB" but it didn't give me QE/CI. I'll make sure to try again with a clean installation of JaS' OSX86 10.4.8 AMD Intel Sse2 Sse3. is doing this the same as using the disk utility? sudo -s chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* Or do I just use the disk utility? Thanks!
delish
is doing this the same as using the disk utility? sudo -s chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* Or do I just use the disk utility? That works alot better than running diskutility, diskutility usually dont fix all files within a .kext file.

Scrizz
try using older kexts that should work
bluedevilsnare
what older kexts? and where would i get them? and thanks a lot for your help so far scrizz! OH SNAP! it works now!!! the only problem that persists is what existed before when i did a clean install of jas' osx 10 4 8. the animations and mouse lags immensely. everything from mouse movement to opening of windows lagged very bad. when I did the "CallistoFB" change from "IODRVFrameBuffer" i got qe and ci but everything was back to that original lag. i've moved back to do the "IODRVFrameBuffer" until we can decipher what is going on. THANKS SO MUCH SCRIZZ!
