tarch
Hi all, I have succesfully installed MacOS in vmware, so I've tried to copy the image on a partition. So i boot the system and MacOS with grub that boots correctly darwin I pass to prompt the options "rd=disk0s3 -v" but I obtain only still waiting for root device. My partition schema is: Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80060424192 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9733 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 1 249 2000061 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/hda2 250 7775 60452595 83 Linux /dev/hda3 7776 9733 15727635 af Unknown hda3 is the partition on which is mounted MacOS. The difference between partition dimension and the MacOS image dimension are big (11GB), it's this relevant? I have the chipset 'Intel® 845MP chipset' and '82801CAM IDE U100' disk controller. Someone can help me? Bye! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/552-still-waiting-for-root-device/ Share on other sites
tarch
I verified on the HCL and I found that my IDE controller is compatible, my laptop is Asus L3800s. I don't understand why I cannot run in native mode beacause on the hcl my hardware seems to be entirely compatible! Bye! chico666
Hi, I've had the same problem on my Desktop, so i've download the darwin install CD and boot it. During the initialisation of the installation i've see that Darwin can't see my IDE Disc. So i've installed on my SATA disc and no problems anymore. May you could try this to know if your IDE controller is trully compatible with Darwin or not. Hope this help.
