G-RaZoR
Ok, first I would like to thank anyone who reads this, and possible gives any help because I've been dieing to use OS X on my pc. It all started off reading a few articles on the whole OSx86 thing, so I found a guide, http://www.andrewescobar.com/archive/2005/...el-installation and decided to follow it. First off, I bought an entire new hard drive to start fresh with and follow the guide almost exactly. (My hdd was 200gb, the one in the guide was 160) I installed Win XP, and then used partition magic to resize that partition to 30 gb. I then used the command prompt to create the 6gb partition and then the primary one. I then followed the instructions EXACTLY to do the "dd" method. The next step was to boot into OS X, and download the darwin iso.gz file from the apple open source site. When I tried booting into OS X, I came up with three things: (0,1 Windows XP) (0,2 tiger-x86) (0,3 Apple HFS) I booted it up using the tiger-x86 one, and I received the kernal panic error (the YOU MUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER thing). I did some small researching, and I found out that the people who got that error were using VMWare. Now, I don't want to use VMWare at all if it is possible. I would like a native installation. My hardware is as follows: Intel P4 3.2ghz (SSE2, SSE3) Asus P4P800-e Deluxe motherboard HDD Maxtor 200gb Diamondmax 10 Ultra I checked the HCL, and the mobo works as well as the cpu. Also, please note, I followed that guide EXACTLY (except for the hdd size and the partition sizes) please help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5380-problem-after-problem/ Share on other sites
domino
This is your problem: This is an archieved entry posted 2 months ago on Saturday, October 1, 2005. Why do you follow instructions from a site other this one or win2osx. I suggest you read and install using the how-to here or win2osx.net. Both sites have wikis. If you insist on following that site's how-to, email or contact the author of that how-to. pc_guru
Well, you decide what guide you'll follow, but i did follow this one click here!, and all was ok on my pc. I did watch in that guide (http://www.andrewescobar.com/archive/2005/10/01/mac-on-intel-installation) that they used "dd if=c:tiger-x86-flat.img of=\\?\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2 bs=512 skip=63", if you chose bs=512 then the dd command will result to much slow, in the guide that i recommend you bs is bigger than 512, so it'll be more fast. Beside, in your guide they use chain0 method, so this add an step more to your install process, meanwhile in the guide that i recommend you they don't use any chain0 method, because they boot with Darwin Bootloader (the bootloader of osx86), so this don't require any additional step. Take a look at that guide that i recommend you, you haven't any than lose. Good luck !!.
