Paranoid Marvin
Unfortunately, my motherboard blew the other day, my AGP slot along with it. My new (old) motherboard is the one out if the Dell Dimension 2400. It is a 865 chipset with the intergrated graphics - which really don't work!! Once I boot up, it is all greyscale, for some strange reason. Apart from that though, everything is fine. Can anyone find a rememdy (other than a new mobo, which I am working on!) Beatrice
The amount of memory allocated to the on-board graphics is set too low in the BIOS. Look for such a setting and increase the number to something like 64MB. You may have to edit a file to bump up the resolution and color depth but try increasing the BIOS value first. Paranoid Marvin
I have increased it to the maximum 8mb in the BIOS, but it makes no difference. I have some new RAM on the way (originally meant for the old motherboard) so I will see if that makes a difference EDIT: I have just noticed that on the DVD boot, it is reading only 856kb of VRAM, despite it being set to either 1mb or 8mb
Paranoid Marvin
I have been reading over Intel's site, and it seems that I will be able to use up to 16mb when I have more than 256mb of RAM. My order is taking too long
