I can't understand whats my speed. Will this fix speed up my hdd too?

Thanks

Hi, I'm kinda new to this hackintosh thingy, so sorry if i'm being a noob. I followed the instruction on the first page on a jas 10.4.6 installation for my inspiron 8600 as well. I put the 2 files into the extension folder, replaced IOATAFamily.kext, and set the permission, but it gave me yellow messages with when I do -s on boot ( i forgot what the msgs are) and just froze there. Then I put back the old IOATAFamily.kext.

So i'm wondering is there any other IOATAFamily.kext file/mods that can make UDMA work for an Intel 855PM Chipset for the 10.4.6 installation. I tried searching on the forum, but mostly the guides are for nvidia chipset+newer hardwares. The disk test score is way too low as I can get around 36 mb/sec+ on linux for uncached write. This is the last thing I need to get working. Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance. :D

My XBench result w/o tweak:

Ah I dont believe it....I just did this patch and now I cant boot OS X. The erros are relating to the two kext files that ahev been replaced:

Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPIIXATA.

10IOATAReg16 is not compatible with it's superclass, 8OSObject superclass changed?

Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleGenericPCATA.

Any idea how I can replace the files? (I backed them up, but cant get into OS X to replace).

Thanks.

Not sure if im missing anything here but when i try the command

sudo cp [path to downloaded file]/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext ./

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

I got no such directory. CAn someone here walk a noob through the process. For the love of god I cannot copy the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext to whatever folder at ./. I downloaded the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext onto my desktop, so i used the command sudo cp /Desktop/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext ./ but got no such directory. I browsed through this whole thread and cannot get a definite answer. Some person mention going into the package, I did that but it doesnt do anything. I can view what's inside. Is it possible just to paste the file into the extensions folder?
