xmarcelo
I just purchase this hardware: GIGABYTE 965P-DS3 EVGA GeForce 7600 GT / 256MB GDDR3 My DVD burner is a Pioneer 18X DVD±R DVD E-IDE/ATAPI Model DVR-112D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827129007 Do I have to use a IDE-SATA converter to be able to use the DVD? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812206002 I order the Rosewill IDE Device to SATA (Model RC204) converter. Can I use the DVD as IDE? I plan to install: Mac OS X 10.4.9 Intel SSE3 (JaS.10.4.9.Combo.Update.Intel.SSE3) Thanks xmarcelo
Khid
Dude I think i have the exact same burner. But, I dun see WHY you need the IDE-Sata converter? Is it for max burn speeds in OS X? I installed right off the IDE with my Pioneer on the first try. No converters, no nothing. The only time I had an issue was when I did the DS3 update package, the Jmicron patch made my IDE vanish. Then I installed 10.4.9 w 8.8.1 Kernel and it returned. Fully working, burning IDE Pioneer drive. O_o;
xmarcelo
what about this issue... "Drives (HD's and optical): SATA hard disk* SATA DVD* IDE WILL NOT WORK . Simple as that. If you are desperate to get IDE to work you'll need an: SATA to IDE converter (Beware of which SATA converter you get as you can buy them to work in the wrong direction.) Rosewill RC-204 will work fine. I've got this (connected to my dvd-rw) and I believe a few other members do as well. or USB to IDE converter" http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=28439&st=0 I read this all over the forums...Im confuse now! Do you have the same mob ( GIGABYTE 965P-DS3) Thanks again xmarcelo

Khid
Whatever you say, man. I didn't buy/have/need a converter at all. I installed straight from my Pioneer DVD drive after burning the newest 10.4.9 torrent to a DVD. I think that IDE deal was back a long time ago or something, cause I'm dead serious: I booted the disc straight from my Pioneer DVD drive.
xmarcelo
You were right... I did not need a converter at all. My machine is up and running sweet! xmarcelo
