Parallels freezes ON MBP and a couple other things

Having ssues with parallels. I used Parallels transporter and transported XP Pro from my old Dell to my Mac as a VM. it seems I can boot XP in VM and run it for 2 minutes then is frezes, not sure why or what to do to fix it.

 

I have the Video set to 16Meg and Ram at 512. should I increase either? I have 2 gig of ram and 256 Meg video. I also have a USB to Serial adapter I would like to use in windows, but it has no mac drivers. If I turn on auto connect for parallels is works, can I use it or shoul dI get a Mac OS X compatible USB to serial? I need the serial port of diagnostic software for my car that is windows based.
