Chris598
Well I'm getting a real mac next week and I want to install ubuntu on PC. I want ubuntu to replace my OS X86 partition so I was wondering how do I remove it from my hard drive. Will simply wiping and formating the partition do? And how do I remove the chain0 command? Thanks
Zizou
I think indeed partitioning is good enough Chain0, not sure, never used it.

Lactobacillus P
Manually delete the line containing chain0 in your boot.ini Use a utility like Acronis Disk Director to remove the OSX partition you can select to install Ubuntu on the free space when you boot from the Ubuntu DVD. Guest Ramm
Boot into your Windows install disc, run repair console, type in FIXMBR.
elviejo
Boot in windows, go to C: and delete chain0, close the window, click start->go to My Computer, right click and choose properties, click in properties, click in the "Advanced" tab, click in settings in the startup and recovery section, click on Edit, delete the entry for chain0 and save; put the cd or dvd of the linux distro you want to install, reboot click on install on the linux gui, choose manual installation and choose the partition where Mac was installed. You probably need to format that partition, some of the linux distros have gparted in the live cd, so if you can't install the first time, look for it (in Ubuntu is in System) and proceed to make the format, remember that you need two partitions to install linux, the system partition and the swap partition, you can use gparted to make the second one. Good luck. PS. Remember before install linux, that from there you are gone to use the grub bootloader, so you need to know how to edit it to boot in windows.
