boot installation hangs at "-"

[PowerPPC2289]

After various attempts at trying to get the Jas dvd to work, I downloaded one by tubgirl.

 

When I try and install it (put dvd in drive and boot up)

 

It says press any key to install mac os x

 

so I press a key

 

The little dashes spin round and then it just stops at "-"

 

Nothing.

 

I waited for ages.

 

Any help much appreciated.
