Help Please!

Hi guys,

 

After reading through countless guides and tutorials for the past week, I'm at my wit's end. I am in desperate need of some help. I'll start by giving you my specs.

 

PC Chips Mobo model M907

Onboard Audio AC97 (not working)

Builtin Ethernet SIS900 (not working)

Onboard Graphics 845g (working at 1047x786 no QE/CI)

512MB RAM

Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478 SSE2)

Soundblaster Live 24bit External USB (Working in 10.4.6)

Belkin WirelessG PCI card F5D7001 (working in 10.4.6)

XFX Nvidia FX5200 PCI card (working at 1047x786 no QE/CI in 10.4.6, no success in 10.4.8)

 

 

I have three partitions going right now. One with 10.4.6 that's working perfectly aside from QE/CI missing. The second partition has XP with Acronis DD Suite/OS selector. The third is the one I am trying to get 10.4.8 installed onto. I have had a hell of a time trying to get this thing to work.

 

I have tried three methods:

1. Apple update plus manual installation of 8.8.1 kernel.
   
2. Jas update for SSE2 plus manual installation of 8.8.1 kernel
   
3. Clean install with DMG image entitled "JaS 10.4.8 For AMD & Intel sse2 Or sse3"
   

1. The first method resulted in a failure to boot.
   
2. The second method had great success until I tried to add the 8.8.1 kernel.
   
3. The clean install had three different outcomes in the many times I tried. Most of the time it either doesn't boot at all or it will boot but not recognize any USB ports/PCI cards. One time I had a power outage before it finished the installation and it booted with USB recognized. I managed to fix the PCI by installing the 10.4.6 IOPCIFamily.kext and the AppleSMBIOS.kext. I managed to get my wireless card working with a modified IO80211.kext as well. When I started to try and get my Nvidia card working something went wrong and I was never able to get back to that point again. Naturally I was on a roll and forgot to backup with SuperDuper
   

 

Right now I am downloading another DMG called "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso" and will try that one when it finishes downloading in the next day or two. In the meantime I thought I'd ask you guys for some suggestions. Please don't say "get a compatible motherboard" because that is not an option. I already have a compatible Hackintosh built for myself. This is just one I am throwing together for my dad out of spare parts.

 

If I could get QE/CI workng in 10.4.6 I'd happily keep it there. Unfortunately, from what I understand to get QE/CI workng will only be possible with my FX5200 card+Titan+8.8.1 kernel. Somebody please help me figure this out because I don't know what else to do to make this {censored} work!
