Right,

I've been trying to get Wireless networking working on my AMD Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe based Tubgirl 10.4.8 installation but when I go into system profiler to check if my PCI card is showing up i get the "this computer does not appear to have any pci cards installed" message. Why is this? Can someone tell me why my card is not showing as connected? Does anyone know another way to get a device ID other than System Profiler, I don't have Windows installed on the machine.

I have searched everywhere on this forum for a solution and I can't find a thing......

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jackobyte:

I have NetGear WG311T PCI Card installed. I had a similar experience when I tried to install JaS 10.4.8. The System Profiler would not show any PCI card detected. I have since installed Myzar 10.4.6 and it recognizes as Airport (no modifcations necessary).

Is there any "trick" to get Airport installed on 10.4.8?

--danyel

Finally got it working!! :-) Had to copy IOPCIFamily.kext from the /System/Library/Extensions folder to desktop, opened this one in text editor, made a minimal edit, saved it, copied it bcak to the original location, repaired permissions ion Disk Utility and it showed up!!

Did a re-install to check that this is a fix and it is................

Hope this helps!

I want to try this, but what exactly were your "minimal edits"??

Thanks!
