I usually refrain from posting HELP ME! topics on forums where I haven't contributed much, but I'm desperate and hopefully someone here can help me.

For the last week or so, I've tried about everything in my knowledge to get OSX86 running on an HP NC6000 (which from what I'm reading is a very OSX friendly laptop).

I've tried installing both JAS 10.4.6 and JAS 10.4.7 without success. On both accounts, the installation is moving along just fine (custom install, with the SSE2 and proper patches). Then when booting into OSX for the first time...I'm confronted with a black screen and moveable curser. I'm hoping that there's a standard task that I'm not doing that I'm missing when reading the tutorials and help files online.

Also, this isn't even a dual boot. This laptop is a spare one so I just wiped the HD and installed it fresh on the primary drive with the standard Apple file system.

According to the compatability lists, this install should work nearly flawlessly:

Has anyone else had a similar encounter? and what can be done?

Thanks.

you need to boot off the dvd after installing and push f8 then were it says boot: type -s -v and hit enter so it should look like this

boot: -s -v

when you get to the command line type fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

then type print

see which hard drive # you istalled to probably 1

then type f 1 were 1 is the number of the drive you installed to to make that drive active.

type write and it will write the changes to your MBR.

reboot with out dvd and you should be running fine.

PS: F3l1x should be posting a budle for the 10.4.6 NC6000 which will get you lan wireless and fix the mouse problems.
