Dell XPS M170 BCM5701 10.4.7/10.4.8

Hi,

 

I am trying to get the built in Ethernet (Broadcom 5701) working on 10.4.7. or 10.4.8. When installing 10.4.1 the built in Ethernet works without any issues, but when installing 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 the Built in Ethernet is greyed out.

 

I have installed a working version of 10.4.1 and copied the IONetworkingFamily.kext and NetworkInterfaces.plist and then installed 10.4.7 and copied the IONetworkingFamily.kext and NetworkInterfaces.plist from the 10.4.1 install and rebuilt permissions as well as doing the following.

 

sudo -s

cd /

cd /System/Library/Extensions/

ln -s IONetworkingFamily.kext com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily.kext

rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions

 

After rebooting the built in Ethernet is still greyed out.

 

If anyone can assist me in getting this working it would be much appreciated.
