Guest Ramm
When I boot Solaris 10, I get the standard black screen and some type pf error. It mentions the date and time, the computer(host) name, and then something along the lines of "Unidentifiable localhost name" (or something, I can't remember). Any help? (MoC)
Try to disable your ethernet card and fix your host name. Sun Computers are for networking mostly, and they usually are very annoying with it if not correctly configured. Guest Ramm
Well what should I fix my host name to? My workgroup or something? It was just IanPSolaris but that went to hell, and I don't want to disable my ethernet card. (MoC)
Nah put whatever you want. I just call it what the computer is. If its a Deskpro its "Deskpro". You get the idea. I said disable your card to boot and fix your problem. then re-enable. (MoC)
Use another operating system. You don't have that much support and applications for that system. Most of it is based on Java which is annoying. And if you screw something up the system starts to haunt you. Just install a Linux distro and call it a day.
