Hello, I'm following this guide, for it seems to be the most user-friendly for a OS x86 Hacking noob.

http://www.profit42.com/index.php/2006/05/...ndows-computer/

I have a simple question, it states "Create at least 6GB unallocated space". I have Split my main disk into 2 partitions, one 50 GB (Which XP is on) and one 20 GM (Where OS X will go). Before proceeding to step 4, should I leave the partition RAW or format to FAT32? Thank you in advance!

1. format it to FAT32

2. set partitions flag to boot

3. set ID to AF

Hint: take GPARTED-live-CD

it's easy to use with graphical interface

lets go!

please note: all inputs without quote

boot off of cd

gparted app appears (it looks similar to Partition-Magic or Acronis)

format the partition

(if not allready done)

format the second partition to FAT32 (the disk-symbol starts selected actions)

set the flags

-pick the second partition, right mouse button, select "boot" and confirm

-pick the first partition remove the same way the boot-flag

leave the app

change the ID

klick the terminal-symbol from the lower bar

console appears (similar to cmd in Windows$$$)

tap in: cfdisk , hit enter-key

move the enlighted bar to your second partition using up/down-key

move the selector with left/right arrow-key to "type"

hit enter-key

preselected 82 appears (and a long list of available types)

hit a key

tap in "AF" (overwrite 82), confirm

move the selector using left/right-key to "write"

enter-key

confirm with "y" for yes

leave the program

to be shure all modification had been written

tap in "sync" and enter-key to send the command

"exit" let you leave the terminal

click the STOP-sign, select "reboot" , confirm

you are done

as you can think by yourself all the toggling steps can be done within cfdisk at once :)

in case your second partition is allready formated to FAT32 thats the short way

this instruction can be usefull to prepair a drive without having Windows$$$

additionaly you have to create at least a partition first. :P
