Guest Ramm
Although OS X86 may run well by itself, unless you have a completely fully featured computer, DO NOT expect to be able to run Apple certified pro apps. It just doesn't work well. Photoshop may work well, but that does not mean Aperture will. Chances are, any software like Final Cut or Aperture is going to fail. If you are going to use OS X for this type of application, by a real Mac. Oh what happened here? I must have accidentally click the Post button twice. Sorry 'bout that. Aperture and FCS work perfectly here, and Photoshop CS3. What's this post about exactly? BTW I have a completely fully featured computer, whatever that means. Guest Ramm
Ok, bad examples people! I just want people to know that they should not expect to be able to run everything a full Mac can run. I see several people complaining about how "aperture doesn't work with my OS X86." This isn't supposed to be a real platform, it isn't, and I just don't want people thinking everything will run on an OS that shouldn't even be on the computer. naddy69
Your post is pointless. Since you were called on your original "examples", you then backtrack and say "ooops, bad examples". Now, since you have no examples, you have no point. All apps run just fine. I've got Office 2004 installed, Toast 8, RealBasic 2007, VNC, etc. Everything works. People who have a flaky install can expect problems - but that applies to ANY OS on ANY computer. The wrong video/MB/chipset driver on Windows can cause loads of problems also. The fact of the matter is, 10.4.6 runs better on this PC than it does on my "real Mac" - admittedly an old machine (G4 500). I've got full networking, sound, USB, CI & QE video, both of my printers work, DVD/RW works - in fact, everything works. It's fast - it boots faster than Vista or XP (both installed - triple boot!) - and very responsive. Yet this is hardly "state of the art" hardware - perhaps that's why it works so well. ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe MB, 3 GHZ P4, 2 GB RAM, ATI X800 XT 256 MB AGP video. hixatchi
as long as you have recent hardware aperature, final cut pro and everything should work as long as its recent and fully supported with drivers i don't see the problem I have everything working like aperature and stuff on my system , even games work fully fine quake 4, warcraft 3 basically i ahve a fully featured mac i even have a dell 3007wfp so it roxs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42287-before-you-go-about-install-do-not-expect-professional-apps-to-run/#findComment-302318 Share on other sites
Ferret-Simpson
Some software may NOT work, if the software has it's own "Apple-Lockdown" protection inside, but I know of no such software. Apple computers ARE fully featured machines. If you use hardware equivalent to an Apple Computer, you get performance equivalent to an Apple computer. That should go without saying and it would be retarded of anyone to think otherwise. Apple Computers are PC's. If you use a lower grade PC, you get lower grade performance. DUH! As the guy told above, Apple's computers are PCs. track09
To say that Windows apps have as many problems with proper drivers as hackintoshes is assinine. Aperture requires a supported video card to run, most of these "complaints" are from people with sub-standard video cards. (from memory the latest version requires a 6600/9600 and the earliest required a 5200) This is the same regardless if you are on a mac or a hacky. You can't run Aperture on an old MX4 craptacular....
