ndtwc
Hi! it's my first post here, thx u guys and gals posting so many useful information here so that i can have the osx86 successfully installed and running perfectly normal and smooth. Well, beside two things: (1) when I startup my computer, it boots to mac osx automatically (yes i dont dual boot, i dont need it either), and when it enters to mac osx, it usually halts and I will need to press the restart button to boot again. I need to repeat this several times in order to enter to mac osx normally. Could anybody tell me how can i avoid this? And (2) I use HP LaserJet 1020 Printer before, under Windows environment, but now I found that there's no driver for the printer on Mac! I've tried looking around the net for the solution, tried a number of them too, but all failed. So please anybody know how to use it under Mac? BMC6053
for #1) Get into mac the normal way U have been or under single user mode and delete your kextcache and mkext to see if that would help. Also when booting press F8 and boot with -v to see if any errors come up. for #2) You may have already done this but did you install the printer drivers on the install cd? There is a part with .. grr can't think of it but its the open source drivers. Sorry - bit tired so this input may not be as usefull as I think it is right now lol. Good luck. ndtwc
Thx for ur reply but mm... for 1) how can i delete my kextcache and mkext? use some tools like tiger cache cleaner or mac pilot? i tried both of them but the problem is still here~.~ will try pressing the f8 button and the boot with -v method later. and for 2) yeah sure i tried the driver cd that comes with the printer too, no work too... it said the driver is for 1022 but not my 1020 on mac os x! actually i can add the printer to the printer setup utility, or at least i can see its name, but it wont print anything! how nice Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42041-not-always-booting-up-successfully-and-hp-laserjet-1020-printer-driver/#findComment-300741 Share on other sites
