I have succesfully installed 10.4.8 JaS on my system. My specs are in the sig. My video card, an AGP eVGA 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition, works brilliantly with all features once I dropped the AGP arpeture to 128MB. My Wireless works fine after the en0 to en1 tweak, and my SATA drives are all seen by OSX (not sure if they were in the installer but I have windows in a RAID 0 there so I dont really care) I guess OSX see's my PCI Firewire card but I havent tried to use it. My sound works as well as my wacom tablet.

So now for the questions, I have a 320 GB Harddrive with a number of my important backups, it is formated NTFS. I was under the impression that OSX can read but not write NTFS cause it may cause corruptions is this true? I created a FAT32 Partition on my OSX drive to use as a swap disk but if this is the case then I can wipe that partition and utilize my whole 160 GB disk for OSX.

My intentions for OSX is that I can use Shake and Final Cut Pro, Shake seems to be working correctly though I have not pushed it much but FCP won't load, I think by browsing the forums I need the ProApp Framework, is that true? And where can I get it?

Also is there any way I can tell OSX that my two SATA drive are in a RAID so that it doesnt eject them at every reboot? This is a minor issue but if I can without screwing up windows it might be worth it.

I will eventually upgrade my CPU to a AMD x2, does the dual core cause any problems that I should be aware of?

What shouldnt I do, such as updates and stuff from apple, to keep this install working correctly?

All in all with the way OSX is working Im almost seriously considering OSX being my main OS. Vista is lacking in the support for CG artist and Visual Effects users, and OSX with intel support has become the new workhorse of the industry. If I can get through some of these issues I think I might make the switch and put Windows on a small install for 3ds Max and Zbrush.

Thanks for your help, and special thanks for JaS for a great experience!

mac doesnt like RAID unless its software.

AMD cpus need a bit more hacking to get working but if its just a swap not a problem.

hmm...

i havent heard anything about studdering with the x2 series AMD anymore so i dunno, im an intel guy.

Yeah, final cut has been giving me a problem too. I noticed however that if i just install Final Cut and nothing else it works...As for the prokit thing...i've tried it and it doesn't really seem to do anything...sorry...not sure where you'd be able to find it...= \

But in order for the final cut to work i have to do a complete clean install of mac os x = \ so i've installed mac os x to this dell probably 20 times already trynna fix this problem...if i find a solution i'll let everyone know...
