perfect0
I have OSx86 10.4.8. I want to use GarageBand but apparently there isn't any in the Applications folder. Does anyone know how I can install GarageBand? The available downloads are all updates. Thanks in advance... Korrupted
GarageBand doesn't come pre-installed with Macs. It's part of the iLife suite. It's $70 for the whole set. perfect0
Thanks for the response. I was hoping that there was a standalone download. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41052-garageband/#findComment-294356 Share on other sites
jimihat
GARAGEBAND I actually have a genuine Apple OSX disk with iLife06 as part of the bundled add-ons; I've tried to install from here but it does a system check and says it can't install iLife on my machine. I also downloaded a dmg of iLife06 (Garageband only) from a torrent. It took me a day to download it (via Windows as ethernet not working on osx86) and the mac can't open it. It mounts the dmg but when you then click the install file it says "unable to open". Please help me; I'm a desperate man in need of Garageband - I just can't afford a decent mac to run it on!!! Thanks in advance guys, Jim, UK My Setup:- E6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 (AS ROCK Conroe945 DV Chipset) 2gb Ram Nvidia 7600 256mb Line6 Toneport USB Audio i/o (currently acting as system soundcard) OSC is running natively on its own 80gb IDE HDD. Silas Palmer
A friend told me that you can install the ilife 06 (garage band only) torrent by: [1] mount the .dmg and open it [2] copy the "iLife 06.mpkg" file to the desktop (this might not be necessary) [3] Instead of clicking on that file, right-click and select "show package contents". Yay a bunch of files! [4] Double-click "installers" [5] Double-click "iLife 06 Registration.mpkg" and install (must do this first, otherwise nothing else will work). [6] Double-click "GarageBand.mpkg" in the same folder and install. My friend has successfully done this on an intel hackintosh, so you should be able to as well. Cheers, SP.
