manw
hi guys, i know there are posts regarding similar issues, but i couldn't find any answers for my problems. First, my configuration : Mainboard : Gigabyte 8KNXP rev.2 (i975, and ICH5 chipset) Processor : P4 3.0 Prescott, D0 stepping, with HT Video : Leadtek GF FX5200 Ram : 1Gb HDD: 1x40Gb Maxtor, and 1x160Gb Maxtor Sound Card : Creative Audigy 2, and onboard sound activated wireless keyboard+mouse (USB port) osx86 build : JaS 10.4.8 The problem i encountered is as following : after successfully installing (i get to the screen where it says "rebooting in 30 seconds", it boots up, it shows the grey loading screen with the Apple logo, and after that it hangs on an empty blue screen with no mouse cursor, and no keyboard (although they seem to be initialized on the USB, since the receiver led flashes when detecting action). I've tried any combination of install settings (i even unselected everything but the necesary files and the Intel patch), to no avail. Another problem i encountered is that no matter what dual booting guide i followed (i tried them all i think ), i always get the "ntldr is missing" message from the XP when reverting back to it... please help. manw
after digging the forums, i booted using verbose mode, and understood that the problem comes from the video card driver (titan loads OK, but the card fails to initialize). I managed however to boot into safe mode (-x switch). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to change the video configuration from the safe mode, and how? i spent a lot of time searching the forums for related problems, but most of the threads contain a lot of terminoloy fpr which i couldn't find any explanations. So, i would appreciate your explaining, or at least giving me a link i might have overlooked for this. Thanks. L.E. - i managed to install the video drivers, using the Nvidia beta installer (no acceleration though ), and when i was about to go "whew!", i started Safari, and noticed that i have no network/internet access. Gonna look into that deeper a bit before asking for help, feeling very confident about this, since i managed to resolve the previous issues following other threads in here Until then, i'll have to wait until my first post from the OS X. L.E. - this is my first post using Firefox from within Os X. However, there is another problem - the Ethernet interface is installed correctly, but appears af if the network cable is unplugged. The only fix i found so far was unplugging the cable, and then plugging it again. This being said, i only have 4 issues remaining : the network problem, making the sound work, installing the printer (hp, ehich i didn't install initially, in order not to have too many options selected), and enabling QE/CI on the video card if possible. I see no reply so far, but thanks nonetheless Edited February 4, 2007 by manw Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41000-boot-problem-with-jas-1048-patched-version/#findComment-293321 Share on other sites
manw
ok, i got it up and running, the only remaining issue being the network cable thing : whenever i boot into Mac OS X, the Ethernet card acts as if the network cable is unplugged. This is easily fixed by unplugging the cable, and plugging it back in. All the rest is working just OK, even the sound (which was actually installed, but didn't start until i once booted with -x switch...odd, but it's working now, so there's nothing to complain. Still haven't been able to find a fix for the network cable problem, and since it's the only remaining issue, it's a bit annoying . Any help would be apreciated. Thanks a lot guys.
