Thico Alves
Hi folks... I have a plenty full working hackintosh at home. So one of my friends saw it running and wanted to install it on his computer. He have an Athlon 64 with the nForce4 chipset. I know about the issues with SATA drives for nForce4 (recently solved with MeDevil kext, but not fully working for MCP51..so it's better wait a little bit for more stable releases) and said to him to get an IDE hd that should be better. He got a 30GB IDE ATA 66 HD to use just for MacOSX. Then I started the install using VMWare (we made a 5GB partition on the 30GB disk just to install WinXP and VMWare). I prefer to install using VMWare because it never have any problems during instalation. I installed JaS 10.4.8 Intel AMD DVD and everything worked fine. So when we rebooted, the OSX loaded but the GUI didn't. It was giving some diskarb errors (don't know if this have something related to the problem) and then said "Window Application Started" and so nothing... We tried many things. I thought that could be a problem related to his video card (GeForce 6500). So I disabled all the Titan.kext, NVDAResman, etc etc using terminal and let the OSX boot using default video drivers. Still no luck. So I decided to use diferent versions of OSX. I so reinstalled it using the 10.4.6 image on VMWare. Instalation worked great, but when booting nativelly we got EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM So I decided to change the video card. We got 2 video cards with friends to test. One was a GeForce 6200TC 512MB that seems to be very compatible as we can see on wiki and here on the forum. The other was an old PCI S3 Virge. I put the Geforce 6200TC and reinstalled 10.4.8. Guess what... same thing happened, even with a different video card. Stopped at "Window Application Started" message and no GUI at all. So I put the PCI S3 Virge and it could even change the resolution on the boot, and so of course, no GUI again. My last try was to install nativelly. I then burned a DVD with 10.4.8 and put the GeForce 6500. So I tried to install nativally and got strange problems and no GUI at the end... I really don't know what's the problem with this computer. I will try latter to see if is some BIOS option that needs to be disabled. I can't understand why it's not working. The DVD image is working because it installs fine and boots fine using VMWare... I'll put the hardware specs here to see if someone had similar problems with this hardware. Please, if anyone knows the answer to that, help us!! May be that helps... Thank you very much! I'm finishing to download the JaS 10.4.8 PPF1 iso, that seems too work. If it doesn't, I will try the tubgirl one. Latter I post here my results Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40986-strange-problems-on-boot/#findComment-293206 Share on other sites
