I've tried all of the solutions and the one that works for me is here:

http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/

Once you give an e-mail address, you can download and install the program. I can attest that this FREE program works so you have a complete image of your system.

Since I've muddled around with my system so many times -- and broke it -- a backup image of my hard drive is a must. In trying to get the video working, I've had times my system wouldn't even boot ... Now, I don't worry about it.

I use an external USB hard drive to make my image, using the program above. I use two hard drives and swap them out if I mangle my system to bad to return to a good, working system. I'd recommend you do this.

Because Silver Keeper will "update" an image, you can continually update in a just a few minutes once you get an original image.

I'm sure that some of the other programs will work for some of you but this is the only one that worked correctly for me.

I've had to use the install DVD to activate the partition on the image but that's a minor detail. If your image doesn't boot, then you need to do this ..

Hope this helps someone.
