erbic
I have Vista working quite well on my Macbook Pro. I boot into it whenever I want to play Windows games, and in doing that I've noticed something. I have the Sigmatel drivers from the Boot Camp driver disc installed, and ever few minutes, the sound starts skipping. It does it for 5 seconds, stops, does it for another 5 seconds, then stops for a few minutes. This happens in everything I do. Music, games, even the Vista startup melody thing skips on regular intervals. Sound in Mac OS is fine. So what might be causing this? Is it just because I'm using XP-designed drivers on Vista? Not like I have a choice... Edited January 17, 2007 by ErBiC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38904-sound-skips-in-vista-rtm/ Share on other sites
erbic
Bah... why do my threads never get any replies? Simple problem: Sound skipping on Vista with the drivers off the Boot Camp driver disk. bump... LN1
I've had a similar issue, on my machine I've found it's got something to do with the wireless driver. If I go into device manager and disable the Atheros wireless device then the sound works perfectly. Assuming you can live without the wireless network when playing games of course! erbic
But... the wireless is how I get internet in the first place! *cry* I'll try that. Online gaming isn't that important to me. WhiteStar
Indeed! It is the Atheros wireless card drivers. When I disable the card, Windows works like a charm but when it's enabled, my sound skips and my mouse goes crazy sometimes. I looked around and had no luck getting drivers. Anyone have any idea where to get clean drivers for this card? I know it's a fairly new card, but really! Apple could have done a much better job... ---sigh--- MBP 15", 2.33 GHz. erbic
Screwy. I guess we shouldn't be complaining too much, as the drivers were designed for XP. They work fine in that context. I expect to see fully Vista-compatible drivers from Apple in the next month or so, considering Vista is going mainstream at the end of this month. AirmanPika
LN1...You sir are a genius! I had never thought of the wireless card causing it.
