i had the same problem, i'm using vmware.

When i got to the point when i should have chosen the hdd for the installation i couldn't see any.

So i have clicked on "utilities->disk utilities" and then formatted the partition with hfs+

(i've just translated "utilities->disk utilities" from the italian, so it might be slightly different :thumbsup_anim:)

That fixed the problem.

To be more precise for you noob's this is not a problem but a feature and has been since the arrival of osx !

What did you THINK... :P

I've read several guides on how to install osx and none of them mentioned that, they all say "do not format anything, the installation software will do it" but then they don't say that they mean "you must do it while installing".

As a noob (as you say, and as i said in my other post) i didn't know how to solve this, since i didn't even know that in the installation software there was a hdd partition utility.

And that for me was a problem, since it made me stuck.

I have solved my problem, even if it's a known feature during installation.

Cheers

i have an intel platform here which i want to install OSX on, but i also have a problem finding the disk partition, and i don't see the disk under Disk Utility, only the DVD-ROM with the MAC OS X Install disc, what am i doing wrong? and do I need to use VMWARE to get it running?
