Keep on getting a "forbidden" sign when I try to install x86 on my P965 based computer

I tried to install OSx86 with, I believe, Jas' autoinstall DVDs 10.4.3 and 10.4.7 (not sure right now about the versions thou). I inserted the discs and rebooted the computer. The Apple, well, apple appeared on screen over a grey bg, but after a few seconds the only thing I get is a "forbidden" sign in the middle of the screen, over the apple and I have to restart my system. Is there any way to install Osx86 on a P965-based motherboard for a Core2Duo processor? (It's a gigabyte)

i have the same mobo. same problem as you described. if you boot your dvd into verbose mode, -v at start up it will show you your error - (waiting for root devices) - has to do with sata i believe or what ive been told. i have not suceeded on install with 10.4.7 dvd along with the new sse2/sse3 10.4.8 jas dvd. should be able to install through vmware havent fooled around with that much. what worked for me was the jas 10.4.8 intel sse3 only repackage reseed release it booted right up and installed great, grab that release and then just install the new 8.8.1 kernel all should be well. good luck.

Tried Jas 10.4.8 SSE3 ONLY ver. and I still keep getting the forbidden sign when trying to install. I'll list my full specs:

CPU: Intel Core2Duo 6400

RAM: 1GB@667Mhz

Video:Nvidia GeForce 7600GS 512MB

MB: Gigabyte P965 S3

HD: (1)320GB SATA2, (2) 80GB

DVDRW: Pioneer 111

Others: mem card reader, microsoft wireless keyboard+mouse (tried with normal ones too).

Tried -v mode and it says it can't find the root or something along those lines. Any idea of what might be the problem? I don't know what to do anymore...

i have in intel dg965wh mobo with the e6300 processor, and i get the same error.. i am gonna try the 10.4.8 .. but looks like it doestn like the 965 chipset for some reason..

is ur dvd drive a ide drive or sata?? i think our problem is that they are IDE, i keep reading IDE will not work everywhere, so a solution is to get a sata dvd-rw, or vmware image install.. working on right now..
