My experience installing JaS's new patched 10.4.8 DVD on a Samsung X20 1.6GHZ SSe2 with a built-in intel GMA 900:

1. Installed JaS 10.4.7 with the "GMA900" support enabled on a virgin HFS+ Volume.

2. Installed the patched JaS 10.4.8 DVD without clicking any of the “supported hardware” stuff !!!

3. Manually installed the 10.4.8 GMA900.pkg from the patched Jas 10.4.8 DVD.

4. To get QE & CI enabled: Fix permissions for the AppleIntel915.kext:

In Terminal navigate to /system/library/extensions/

Then

Chown –R root:wheel AppleIntel915.kext

Chmod –R 755 AppleIntel915.kext

Delete Extensions.kextcahce & Extensions.mkext in /system/library/extensions/

Then

Reboot

Voila! QE & CI should now be enabled!

Enjoy your new system with QE & CI and the 8.8.1 Kernel!

hi ufulu!

my hardware: Acer Aspire 3628AWXMI :

CPU: Intel Pentium M (740) SSE2 / 1.700 MHz / RAM: 1024 MB / HDD: 60 GB / Display: 14,10 WXGA (1280 x 800) / GPU:

Intel GMA 900 ID2592 / Modem, LAN 10/100, Wireless LAN Intel 2200BG

your tutorial looks interesting! I have only one problem.

I have installed 10.4.8 / 8.8.1 with gma900 patch. I have to plug in a external monitor to get it started. no problem

so far. The first time the notebook booted after the installation QE was enabled (wave effect) ... now i updated the

ACPI bundle to get the battery status display to work and now QE is disabled.

I followed your tutorial and navigated to the /system/library/extensions but there is no file like

AppleIntel915.kext

only:

...

AppleIntelGMA950.kext

AppleIntelGMA950GA.plugin

AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver.bundle

AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

...

System Profiler shows:

Intel: GMA 900 / ID: 0x"2592"

on win xp everest shows me the GPU device description: Intel 82910GML/915GM(S) GPU Codename Alviso-GM

I am confused a little bit at the moment.

THX for help!!!

Ok, now my GMA 900 is working...

but after the steps above i have booted in a grey display whit the rainbow wheel :-((( my pc was dead!

After booting in safe mode (holding the shift key durig the boot) I got a message saying that AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext was not loaded ---> well: Just replace the 10.4.8 AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext with the one from 10.4.4 (also on JaS 10.4.6/7 DVD).

n Terminal:

sudo -s

cd /System/Library/Extensions

mv AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext.original

cp -r /where/you/have/the right/AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext

chown -R root:wheel AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext

chmod -R 755 AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext

cd ..

rm Extensions.*

reboot

Max resolution = OK

QE = OK

CI = OK

G'day to All !!

I would like to know if this procedure to activate QE/CI would apply on an Intel 865G integrated graphics controller chip?

Also, I will be performing a fresh install of JaS's new patched 10.4.8 DVD on a separate partition. Do I need to actually install JaS 10.4.7 DVD then update it to "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.v1p.and.Deviant.patch" or can I start at Step 2?

Lastly, I am curious as to the significance of manually installing the GMA900.pkg POST install versus during the booted JaS 10.4.8 DVD install?

Thanks!

Hi All,

How can we manually install the GMA900 Package from the patched JAS 10.4.8 DVD?

I have installed the patched 10.4.8 jas dvd but no QE and CI, also in the extensions folder it shows GMA950 Kexts, no GMA 900 kexts are found.

Any help?

Regards

I installed the GMA950.pkg at 10.4.8 install. I have no QE or CI. Does anyone know what I need to get this working? Do I have to follow Ufulu steps precisely?

I notice he only installed GMA900.pkg. Also does anyone know how to add this package manually?

Toshiba M55-S135. Got everything working that I use frequently (Sound, WiFi, etc.). I have an onboard Intel GMA900 and following the multiple guides that are out there, I still have no avail on being able to adjust my resolution, period. Using the driver on the DVD (Which I can see, is broken) gives me a light blue screen after the grey screen with the Apple logo. After changing ownership on the .kexts in /System/Library/SystemConfiguration it won't leave the grey screen. I wind up getting a cursor that I can move around, but it never gets past that. I haven't tried the "paperclip trick" as I'm not exactly fond of running the chance of frying everything. Even with trying 'function + external monitor key', I get nothing.

Anyone's input on this subject is greatly appreciated. Also, if you need any more info fro me, let me know!

Thank you!!
