gotoh
what's your mobo ? is your rig already running OS X86, and which tiger version are you running (especially what kernel version) if you have latest 10.4.8 + semthex kernel, core 2 duo should work fine as a dual core CPU. on desktop combo with compliant mobo, dual core CPUs work just fine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37801-dual-core/#findComment-269370 Share on other sites
realfolkblues
Thanks for the info. I will be running the 10.4.8/8.8.1 release that JaS put out just a few days agao. It's an asus board. you can see it here http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspe...sterid=22522540 No i'm not running it yet, it will arrive in 2 days via ups. I just wanted to make sure i was going to get the full performance, or if i would have to run it in single core mode. and if i would have to patch something or not what i would have to download/and or know to fix it. gotoh
this combo should run fine. What AGP card are you planning to use ? Or maybe you'll stick with GMA first... give it at least 2x 512Mb DDR sticks, OS X86 loves to have more than 1Gb ram. It should run fine with 512Mb only, but here, more is REALLY better Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37801-dual-core/#findComment-269427 Share on other sites

sg
the dual core problem is only with some of the mobile core duos etc or some of the AMDs. penitum d and core 2 duos work perfectly with any recent kernel.
